New PACIFIC RIM Concept Art by Allen Williams

Check out brand new concept art for Pacific Rim by Allen Williams!

Pacific Rim opens tomorrow and yesterday we got a peek at some of the concept art from the behind-the-scenes featurettes, but a few new illustrations have been trickling in.  I absolutely love the Allen's pencil work and these low-res samples are a good example.

Allen Williams is a professional concept artist who's worked on films such as Pacific Rim and Darren Aronofsky's upcoming Noah(2014).

Since I received permission to post it and since its one of my pieces from the "Art of Pacific Rim" book....Here's a Kaiju:


Another Kaiju...this one was part of a sequential design...this was stage 1...I've been told that elements of subsequent stages may found their way into some of the actual creatures...we shall see...I'm going to see the film on Thursday night... Kaiju from the inside...

Official PACIFIC RIM Synopsis
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Extraordinary New PACIFIC RIM Robot and Monster Concept Art by Oscar Chichoni, Doug Williams, Allen Williams, Frank Hong and Hugo Martin

Variety has posted a slew of concept art of Jaeger robots, and kaiju monsters for the Guillermo del Toro film Pacific Rim (2013).  There are only two weeks left until the Godzilla-style monster versus robot film opens and the marketing department is in high gear.
