Batman & Robin is a very controversial film to many and the biggest controversy erupted over Batman's costume. Many hated it. But what if the Batsuit had been different? Could it have been more successful? One of the artists working on the film, Miles Teves, created some amazingly different looks for the movie. I've already shared his super-sexy Batgirl outfit before. Now, it's time to show his amazing Batman, Robin and Poison Ivy designs.

Miles Teves is a professional concept artist who's worked on big budget films like Spider-Man (2002), Terminator: Rise of the Machines (2003) and Terminator Salvation (2009).

Official Batman & Robin Synopsis
The fourth outing in the popular movie franchise features yet another personnel change as George Clooney dons the mantle of the bat. Joel Schumacher directs for the second time as Batman (Clooney) and Robin (Chris O'Donnell) have to stop the vengeful Mr Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from taking over Gotham City by using his new ice weapon. To make matters worse, the venomous Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) decides to join forces with Freeze, so making an almost undefeatable double-whammy of a team. Luckily for the caped crusader and his rebellious ward, they are able to team up with a tough and courageous new partner - Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone).

BATMAN BEGINS Concept Art by Jock

One of the artists that helped give Batman Begins it's dark and moody look is concept artist Jock.

Jock is the pseudonym of award winning British comics artist Mark Simpson, best known for his work with writer Andy Diggle on Vertigo's The Losers and 2000AD. He's contributed concept art to films like Battleship (2012), Dredd (2012) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013). 

Jock shared some of his work on his site and I thought I'd share some of them.

Wikipedia Synopsis:
Batman Begins is a 2005 British–American superhero film based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman, directed by Christopher Nolan. It stars Christian Bale as Batman along with Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. The film reboots the Batman film series, telling the origin story of the character from Bruce Wayne's initial fear of bats, the death of his parents, his journey to become Batman, and his fight against Ra's al Ghul's plot to destroy Gotham City. It draws inspiration from classic comic book storylines such as The Man Who Falls, Batman: Year One, and Batman: The Long Halloween.

BATMAN FOREVER Weapons Concept Art by Chrisopher Ross


Check out concept art for Batman's arsenal of weapons from Batman Forever (1995) by Christopher Ross.

Batman's weapons have always been important and, Bat-Nipples aside, Batman Forever had some great stuff.  Christopher S. Ross is a professional concept artist in the motion picture industry who's worked on blockbuster films like Marvel's The Avengers (2012),G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA (2011) and Iron Man (2008). He shared some of his work on his site Dezyn.com.

Batman Forever is a 1995 American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is the third installment in the Batman film series, with Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and the Riddler (Jim Carrey) in their villainous scheme to drain information from all the brains in Gotham City. He gains allegiance from a love interest — psychiatrist Dr. Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) — and a young, orphaned circus acrobat named Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell), who becomes his sidekick Robin.

'The Dark Knight Rises' Catwoman Concept Art and Costume Design


"My drab greys and beiges." Gary Oldman laughed, "I went to the production offices the other day and there’s all these fantastic pictures across the wall, Catwoman, this, that, and I thought where’s my wall? I don’t have a wall, I just have a rack of very very dull clothes." Commissioner Gordon had it rough.

Turns out he was right. There was a ton of concept art produced for Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) in The Dark Knight Rises that have gone unseen till now.

I have a pretty good idea who the artists are, but out of respect for the NDA, I'm going to leave the guessing to myself.

Official Synopsis:
Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.
But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.
