Ryan Church has been described as "at the forefront of film visualization" for his work on Star Wars Episode I and II, but he also contributed to the Transformers series of films. Read on to see his masterful designs for the crashed Cybertron "Ark," the Sun Harvestor, the evil villain known as "The Fallen" and more.

Church is a professional concept artist who's worked on blockbuster films like Avatar (2009), Star Trek (2009) and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).

One of the most popular, thrill-packed, franchises of all time is back with even more action and more Autobots and Decepticons! In the highly anticipated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Fly Star Trek 2009 Enterprise Concept Art By Ryan Church

This weekend I bought the Star Trek (2009) Blu-Ray (Can you believe it was five bucks at Walmart?!) and enjoyed the behind-the-scenes concept art section featuring art by Ryan Chuch and others.

Entertainment Weekly had an article that said Abrams wanted to take the original TV-series Enterprise and the movie-franchise Enterprise and fuse them together.

He said, "If you’re going to do Star Trek, there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you’re going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?"
 
Back in 2008 there was alot of criticism of the designs from the early images released. Church responded on TrekMovie.com 

"I’m not going to get involved in the mud slinging, here, but needed to assure you guys and gals: we’ve built you a fine ship." Church said, "To clarify: there’s a slight optical illusion occurring here, consequence of the 'camera angle.'

"For Rick and others who worry the nacelles don’t have a clear line of sight over the disc — they, in fact, do. We were hardly working in a vacuum. I raided ILM reference photos like a madman. We were deferential to 'inviolates' of Star Trek design vocabulary. Additionally, the profile here isn’t 100% representative, because, as you’ve noticed, the Bussards are dimmed. The true profile of the nacelles may or may not be revealed here, and that’s all I’ll say."
