Designed by architect Peter Jungmann, The Ufogel (a combination of the words 'UFO' and 'Vogel' which means bird in German), is an extraordinary and comfortably appointed house made almost entirely of larch wood available for rent all year round in the East Tyrolian village Nussdorf - the southwestern part of Austria known as Tyrol (or Tirol).
The structure takes its name from its form which, depending upon the angle, sometimes bears resemblance to a prehistoric bird and sometimes to an extraterrestrial home. It’s certainly not a standard, off-the-peg cabin, but more of a sculpture to live in, which reveals itself to be a “spatial wonder” the minute you walk through the door.
The building is designed to make most of the space. With a floor area of 45 sqm, the ground floor has a kitchen with large dining area for up to 8 people. On the half-floor you find a lounging area overlooking the East Tyrolean mountains and take a few steps up to the loft where a sleeping area with a spacious double bed and a separate bunk can accommodate up to four people. The top floor is complete with a bathroom, shower with a view, storage area for clothes and luggage and view of the mountains.

For cold days, the Ufogel has a floor heating, which can optionally be supplemented by the stove. A refrigerator and a storage box with several areas are available. For hot summer days, air conditioning is installed, which can be operated manually.
Whether you sit, sleep, shower or share a meal, two things are always present in an Ufogel: natural wood and the heavens. The Ufogel simultaneously offers both openness and a sense of security. The large panorama windows bring the landscape indoors giving you the feeling you are still outside while the round shell conveys a cozy, woody feeling of security - in Spring Summer, Fall or Winter.
Owned by the family Pitterl the Ufogel is now rentable for everybody.
