17th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards Coming Soon

The 85th Academy Award nominees have been announced and the awards will be presented Sun. Feb. 24. But another award show is coming soon.

 

The 17th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards Presented by BMW will be awarded Saturday, February 2, 2013.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to four-time Emmy-nominated Production Designer Herman Zimmerman. He's been doing great work for decades including six Star Trek films (The Final Frontier, The Undiscovered Country, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis), three Star Trek television series (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Land of the Lost.

  

77-year-old Zimmerman won the Art Directors Guild Awards 1996's Excellence in Production Design Award - Television for his work on Deep Space Nine.

  

It's interesting to see the genre films that are being recognized that the Academy ignored, like The Dark Knight Rises.
