The main villain of Green Lantern (2011) was suppossed to be the embodiment of fear. That's kind of hard to show on-screen. Artist Paul Rubin took a crack at it back in 2008 and posted some concept art on his site.
His use of light and dreamatic shading on these is astounding. I've added a video of the giant cloud thing below for comparison.

In 2008 I was asked to come on board an early incarnation of Warner's "Green Lantern." I drew hundreds of creature sketches over four and a half weeks… a few of my favorites are below.
