Moebius' 'Willow' Illustrations Are A Fantasy Come True

G is For Gir (Jean Henri Gaston "Moebius" Giraud)
Jean Henri Gaston Giraud went by a few nicknames. The most commonly known was is "Moebius," but he also went by Gir.
Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (8 May 1938 – 10 March 2012) was a French comics artist, working in the French tradition of bandes dessinées. Giraud earned worldwide fame, predominantly under the pseudonym Mœbius, and to a lesser extent Gir (used for the Blueberry series), the latter appearing mostly in the form of a boxed signature at the bottom of the artist's paintings. - Wikipedia
Someone said that Moebius either worked on, or had an influence in, the greatest science-fiction films ever made. He worked on Alien, Tron, The Fifth Element, Star Wars V, and Jodorowsky's unmade adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. His use of color and detail is legendary and it was a sad day when he died earlier this year.

George Lucas approached him in late 1980s to work on his fantasy film Willow.

Willow is a 1988 American fantasy film directed by Ron Howard and produced/co-written by George Lucas and starring Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Jean Marsh, and Patricia Hayes. Davis plays the eponymous lead character and hero: a reluctant farmer who plays a critical role in protecting a special baby from a tyrannical queen in a sword and sorcery setting. - Wikipedia
